Peoria County's Public Information Officer Jenny Fulton will present "Let's Talk Disasters," a free public workshop from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 5 at ICC's North Campus. This workshop is offered through ICC's Adult Community Programs and is intended for anyone interested in learning more about emergency planning and personal emergency preparedness.
Too often the people who are affected by disasters such as a tornado are left out of the planning and preparedness processes. Therefore, FEMA recommends a whole community approach to disaster preparedness. By engaging the community in discussions prior to disaster, local emergency planners have a better understanding how people will react when disaster strikes. And when people begin to think about their own needs and responsibilities during and after a disaster they will become better prepared before disaster.
Come join Peoria County in a discussion about disaster. You may be surprised where the talk takes us! While the workshop is free, registration is recommended due to limited seating: visit www.icc.edu/acp (select "Know Your Community" from the catalog) or call 690-6900 to register.
The same registration information may also be used to register for Peoria County's "How Law Enforcement Manages Dangerous Persons" workshop on April 2. Participants will learn the behavioral tools that law enforcement officers utilize when managing a dangerous person. For more information on Peoria County's presentations for ICC's Adult Community Programs please contact Jenny Fulton, Director of Strategic Communications, at (309) 672-6918 or email@example.com.
